finding purpose doesn’t have to be complicated.

With all the horrible things happening in the world, I’ve noticed more and more of my clients searching for purpose in their work.

I don’t have statistically significant data to back this up, but plenty of anecdotal evidence.

And I get it. I feel the same. When I scroll through the news and feel lost and upset, I want to at least know I’m doing something meaningful in my day-to-day.

But that’s a good thing. And it doesn’t mean we have to quit our job or reshuffle our whole career to have an impact (although if you want to, that’s totally up to you).

Purpose doesn’t come with a certain company logo or job title. It’s about how we show up, and the ripple effect we create around us.

It’s in connecting with coworkers, checking in when someone seems to be struggling, and speaking up about what matters to us at work.

And if you’re already doing that, give yourself some credit. And keep going.

We need more people with strong, human values inside companies that don’t always get it right, because that’s where change actually starts.

So make sure you don’t overlook the purpose you already have. That sense of meaning you’re craving might already be there, you just haven’t paused to notice it.

We can change so much by caring about what’s close to us. Purpose can look a thousand different ways, and all of them count.
