showing up (even when it’s messy).
“You’re posting so much on LinkedIn, things must be going really well!”
It’s something I hear pretty often.
And while yes, things are going well, I’m not sure me spending time on LinkedIn is reliable proof of that.
But we all know that being visible can be enough to make it look like your productivity is through the roof (it works in an office too, after all).
So if you’ve been holding back on posting, maybe add that to your pros list.
And because I don’t want anyone to think everything’s always peachy just because a post shows up on their feed, here’s what you don’t see:
that I probably wrote the post cuddled up in bed before falling asleep, or running to my yoga studio, because of course I spent the hour I scheduled for it staring blankly at my screen.
the frustration of knowing that if I add a selfie, it’ll likely reach more people, but not feeling like it, because I don’t love my face every day.
the mild identity crisis that comes with being vulnerable in my posts, knowing they’ll do better if people can relate, but still wondering if I’m saying too much.
the challenge of showing up when I’m not feeling great, and doing it anyway, because future me will be glad something got checked off the list.
So if you think posting more might help you, don’t wait until you’ve nailed your tone of voice, defined your niche, or figured out your best selfie angle.
Just post. Because showing up is already kind of enough.
