life-proofing a business.
I took a longer break from posting on LinkedIn because... life.
On one hand, I feel incredibly lucky (aka privileged) to even be able to do that. On the other, I shiver at how shaky self-employment can feel.
When I drafted my business plan down to the tiniest detail, I somehow just assumed I’d feel absolutely fine every single day.
And for a while, that actually worked. Until it didn’t—and my monthly goals started to look more like dreamy scenarios I might get to in a few years.
I’m trying really hard not to blame ChatGPT and the business books I read for forgetting to mention that I might not be consistent and productive forever.
I’d never design a coaching program for a client without building in space for their real life, their needs, tons of flexibility—but of course, I forgot all about that when it came to me.
So I’ve been life-proofing my business lately. Factoring in the parts I left out the first time around, and working on accepting that life will always impact things.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re “behind” in your career plans because of things outside your control—you're not.
Maybe the business model you’re following just wasn’t designed with you in mind.
